“This training has opened my eyes to the vast possibilities to share the life-transforming truth of the gospel by utilizing the compelling materials by FamilyLife!”

“We can’t wait to see what God is going to do through this group here!”

“We have been wanting this training and opportunity and couldn’t be more excited!”

In May FamilyLife Global Outreach hosted a three-day ministry-skills training in Little Rock to equip attendees with knowledge and instruction that will enable them to launch or assist marriage ministries around the world, whether in their own hometowns or overseas. The training consisted of interactive lectures designed to train couples to do ministry together and exercises (such as developing a three-minute personal testimony or a fifteen-minute marriage talk with personal stories) to help them put key training principles into practice.

“We want to see couples develop abilities that God can use to change others’ lives,” said Drew Coons, one of the trainers. These ministry skills can then be used by couples to develop ongoing marriage ministries within their own churches or communities, or on short-term mission trips to assist budding international FamilyLife ministries that are eager to receive help and encouragement.

Training topics included communicating effectively at marriage conferences or training, developing cultural sensitivity, using small groups for outreach and evangelism, and using FamilyLife resources locally and internationally. Attendees also learned how small groups can grow and multiply in an ongoing, year-round ministry that builds couples in their faith and sends them out as new leaders to start their own groups.

In response to the question “What was the most valuable part of this training?” One attendee wrote, “Sitting in a room with excitement about all the possibilities to share the hope of Jesus!” Another said, “Encouragement to trust God to do through us what we could never do on our own.” Attendees agreed that learning from one another was a valuable part of the training.

FamilyLife Global intends to offer this training again in the future. Please contact global@familylife.com if you’re interested in attending an upcoming training. We pray that many individuals and couples around the world would answer God’s call to ministry and allow Him to use them to change lives and legacies for generations to come!
